I realized that they needed guidance, they needed help, they needed discipline and they needed someone to instill self-esteem back into their soul, they needed help to rehabilitate their lives.

My very best days as a music director are when I am not at the podium, when the class is not focused on me, the kids are focused inward on their own successes and processes and growth and on each other.
